Nora Fingscheidt is a German director and screenwriter who studied at the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy. Her debut feature film, System Crasher (2019), gained international recognition, winning the Silver Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival. That year, the film was Germany’s official submission for the Best International Feature Film category at the Oscars.
Fingscheidt then moved to the United States for her film The Unforgivable (2021), starring Sandra Bullock, which became one of Netflix’s most-watched original productions.
The Outrun (2024) is Fingscheidt’s third feature film, based on Amy Liptrot’s memoir of the same name. This time, the German director filmed in the United Kingdom, crafting a co-production that sensitively portrays the healing power of nature, the struggles of overcoming addiction, and a woman’s journey of self-discovery, further cementing her reputation for authentically depicting complex female characters.
